Job summary

Sunoco LP seeks an experienced engineer to provide technical leadership in the development, design, and execution of capital, expense, and maintenance projects. You will prepare AFEs, estimate costs, specify materials, and support safe, timely, and cost-effective installations.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum preferred.
• 6–10+ years engineering and project management experience; pipeline/petrochemical exposure preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with executives and licensors.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and initiative.

Sunoco LPis a leading energy infrastructure and fuel distribution master limited partnership operating across 32 countries and territories in North America, the Greater Caribbean, and Europe. The Partnership’s midstream operations include an extensive network of approximately 14,000 miles of pipeline and over 160 terminals. This critical infrastructure complements the Partnership’s fuel distribution operations, which distribute over 15 billion gallons annually to approximately 11,000 Sunoco and partner-branded retail locations, as well as independent dealers and commercial customers.

Summary

Provide technical expertise for development, design, and execution of capital, expense, and maintenance projects in a safe, profitable, timely and efficient manner.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Develops, designs, and performs cost estimation and prepares/submits “Authorization for Expenditures” (AFEs) for capital and expense projects. Evaluation, design, specification and estimation of costs, for preparation and submittal of project AFEs, is a vital function for this position.
• Prepares specifications and procures materials and equipment for a timely and efficient execution of projects.
• Provides technical support to all departments that will result in safe, efficient and cost effective installations.
• Performs engineering, design, installation, and startup of capital, expense and maintenance projects. Supervises contract personnel as needed to perform these functions.
• Performs cost tracking and status reporting for assigned projects.
• Implement all company job related processes, procedures, guidelines, and best practices.
• Manages multiple projects simultaneously within a managed budget and execution schedule.
• Assists in developing site annual budget for Operation & Maintenance and/or estimates for capital projects.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
• Follows all safety rules and guidelines as established by the HES Department.
• Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations.
• Reduces potential risk to public safety and environment and minimize company liability.

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• BS in Engineering with a preference for Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
• 6-10+ years experience in engineering and project management required. 6+ years exposure in a pipeline/petrochemical operating environment preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the capability to work with corporate and terminal/pipeline personnel, senior management, as well as applications licensors and other industry contacts required
• Excellent PC skills, with proficiency in Microsoft products required. Proficient in Excel spreadsheet skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and capable of taking initiative and making decisions is required
• Basic knowledge of petroleum products and industry terminology required.
• Proficient project coordination and management skills required
• Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail, with the ability to proof work for accuracy
• Basic knowledge of terminal/pipeline systems and terminal/pipeline optimization economics required
• Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as possess the capability to work efficiently in a team environment required
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently, managing time and scheduling to meet appropriate deadlines
