Gen-Systems Power Solutions is expanding its engineering team to support growing power generation, microgrid, and data center power projects.
We are seeking a Senior Controls Engineer with hands-on power generation experience to design, program, integrate, commission, and troubleshoot control systems for gas turbine generator packages and multi‑unit power systems.
This role is specifically focused on power generation controls, not general manufacturing automation.
Primary technologies and equipment include GE LM2500, GE LM6000, Siemens A05/SGT-A05, Allen‑Bradley PLCs, Woodward controls, SCADA, and remote monitoring systems.
What You Will Do
- Design and implement controls for gas turbine generator and microgrid power systems.
- Develop and modify controls for GE LM2500, LM6000, Siemens A05/SGT-A05, and associated generator packages.
- Write, modify, test, and troubleshoot PLC and power‑generation control software.
- Develop operating sequences, permissives, interlocks, alarms, trips, and shutdown logic.
- Configure and support Allen‑Bradley PLC and Woodward control platforms.
- Integrate turbine and generator controls with SCADA, HMI, remote monitoring, and IoT systems.
- Support generator synchronization, sequencing, load sharing, and multi‑unit operation.
- Review electrical schematics, control drawings, I/O lists, and communications architecture.
- Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and controls validation.
- Work with Engineering, R&D, Project Management, Manufacturing, Field Service, suppliers, and customers throughout project execution.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of controls engineering experience in power generation.
- Direct experience with gas turbine generators, gensets, or comparable power‑generation equipment.
- Experience with GE LM2500 and/or LM6000 controls.
- Hands‑on experience programming and troubleshooting control software.
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLC platforms.
- Experience with Woodward turbine or generator controls.
- Knowledge of turbine and generator sequencing, permissives, interlocks, alarms, trips, and shutdown logic.
- Experience integrating equipment with SCADA, HMI, remote monitoring, or industrial IoT systems.
- Experience supporting commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of operating generation equipment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with both LM2500 and LM6000 platforms.
- Advanced Woodward controls experience.
- Allen‑Bradley ControlLogix / Studio 5000 experience.
- Multi‑generator synchronization and load‑sharing experience.
- Microgrid or distributed‑generation control experience.
- Data center or mission‑critical power project experience.
- Remote monitoring or Industrial IoT development.
- Full project lifecycle experience from design through FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup.
- Technical or project leadership experience.
Why Gen-Systems Power Solutions?
This role goes beyond programming an individual PLC. You will help develop the controls architecture connecting gas turbine generators, plant‑level controls, remote monitoring, and multi‑unit power systems supporting large‑scale microgrid and data center applications.
As Gen-Systems expands its power‑generation platform, this position will contribute directly to controls solutions that can be standardized and deployed across future projects.
