Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Senior Engineer in Rochester/Binghamton, NY to join the Testing & Commissioning group. The role involves planning, design and field engineering support with emphasis on regulatory compliance and cross-functional collaboration.

The candidate should hold a BS in engineering (mechanical, civil or electrical engineering technology) and have at least 5 years of gas engineering experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering Technology; Master's Degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of technical experience in gas engineering and/or related field.

Responsibilities

• Theoretical engineering knowledge across planning, operations and design, analytics and business impact.
• Practical engineering experience in planning, operations and design, construction, field experience and economic analyses.
• Engineering documentation and interpretation of engineering work.
• Review and approve engineering work to ensure compliance with standards and contracts.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory standards and requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary:

Salary: The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from $86,000-$118,113

Required Qualifications

• Education & Experience Required:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering Technology; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of technical experience in gas engineering and/or related field

Key Responsibilities

• Theoretical Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization)

• Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization "Perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.")

• Engineering documentation - Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation

• Ability to review and approve engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements
