Job summary

Gelber Group, headquartered in Chicago with offices across the United States and Europe, seeks an Experienced Discretionary Energy Trader. You will own a trading book in energy markets, manage risk, and capitalize on market opportunities.

Remote or hybrid work options available, with hard work and profitability expected from a senior trading position. The role requires at least 3 years of proven profitability, a strong work ethic, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Qualifications

• Experience trading energy products such as natural gas or power.
• Proven ability to independently manage a PnL or lead a senior trading team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with autonomy and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own trading book with a focus on energy markets such as refined products, natural gas, and power.
• Manage your own risk across a portfolio of active strategies and drive trading decisions.
• Analyze market fundamentals including supply/demand dynamics, storage levels, weather patterns, geopolitical developments, and regulatory changes.
• Interpret price action, spreads, and order flow to identify trading opportunities.
• Develop, test, and refine discretionary or systematic-informed strategies using historical and real-time market data.
• Continuously monitor market conditions, news, and macroeconomic and energy-specific events.
• Monitor material changes in levels of risk and variance in PnL, and proactively communicate those changes to leadership.
