Job summary

The Arizona Department of Administration seeks a Senior Litigation Counsel to represent the State in administrative proceedings and federal/state court litigation. The role involves reviewing notices of claim, advising on exposure, drafting briefs, and preparing for hearings and depositions in Phoenix and other locations.

Ideal candidates will have extensive civil litigation experience, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to mentor junior attorneys while managing a heavy caseload

Qualifications

• Active Arizona State Bar license required; admit in good standing.
• Extensive civil litigation experience, including pretrial and trial practice.
• Ability to travel within Arizona and to other locations as needed.
• Ability to research, draft, and argue complex legal issues clearly.

Responsibilities

• Represent State and State employees in administrative proceedings and court litigation.
• Review notices of claim; advise Risk Management on potential exposure.
• Draft legal documents, memoranda, and appellate briefs; handle hearings and depositions.
• Mentor junior attorneys; provide guidance and co-counsel when needed.
• Attend office meetings and manage administrative duties related to cases.
