Job summary

Belk is seeking an in-house corporate attorney specializing in employment and employment/business litigation. You will act as Belk's internal advisor on employment and litigation matters, drafting and responding to demand letters, coordinating with outside counsel, and supporting HR on policies and risk management.

You will lead internal counsel activities across employment law, wage-and-hour issues, investigations, and policy interpretation, while partnering closely with HR leadership.

Qualifications

• Must have a JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice in NC.
• 5+ years handling diverse employment and business litigation matters.
• Strong written and oral communication, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Belk's internal advisor on employment and litigation matters.
• Manage employment, litigation, and pre-litigation matters; coordinate with outside counsel as needed.
• Advise HR leadership on policies, compliance, and risk mitigation across the organization.
• Draft and edit pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements; oversee discovery and subpoenas.
