Job summary

Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center is seeking a Senior Emergency Veterinarian in Round Rock, TX, as part of Thrive Pet Healthcare. You will set ER medical standards, mentor veterinarians, and lead case reviews in a fast-paced environment with a focus on outstanding patient outcomes.

You’ll collaborate with the medical director, participate in CE development, and help grow the ER internship program while supporting staff and students across Thrive’s network.

Qualifications

• DVM or VMD required.
• Active State Veterinary Board license in the state of employment.
• Active DEA license or licensure eligible.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency medicine.

Responsibilities

• Set medical standards for the ER department with hospital leadership.
• Mentor ER Veterinarians and coordinate mentorship options within Thrive.
• Schedule case reviews and M&M rounds for ER team.

Heart of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center is looking for a full-time Senior Emergency Veterinarian to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community in Round Rock, TX.

About You

You have a love of ER medicine and a desire to share that love In this fast-paced environment, you’ll work with the hospital medical director and specialists to set medical standards for the ER department. You’ll work alongside the medical director to evaluate ER veterinarian performance. As the Senior ER Veterinarian, you will:

• Encourage, develop, and support CE that elevates the quality of ER medicine in the hospital
• Work with the medical director to provide ER mentorship and/or guide ER Veterinarians to existing mentorship options within Thrive
• Schedule case reviews and/or M&M round with ER Veterinarians
• Assist with veterinary student extern rotation mentorship
• Develop an ER internship program
• Provide ER specific CE to our referring community
• Work with the ER Staff Manager and ER Lead Technician to develop ER technicians

About Heart Of Texas Veterinary Specialty Center

We are an AAHA-accredited, Fear Free Certified, full-service, 24/7 hospital with dedicated doctors providing high-quality medical care to the companion animal population in Austin and surrounding areas. We provide specialty care in the departments of Emergency, Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Oncology (Medical). We partner with an on-site Cardiologist 2 days a week and have an ultrasound (performed with a sonographer and reviewed by a radiologist) available Monday-Saturday.

• Fully equipped with a full range of diagnostic and treatment equipment, including commercial-grade lab diagnostics, ECG, blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, anesthesia & telemetry.
• We also provide ultrasound (we have a sonographer and radiologist review available Monday-Saturday), CT, fluoroscopy, digital radiography, rhinoscopy, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and cystoscopy.
