Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Embedded Systems and Android XR to lead core framework design for glasses runtimes. You will drive low-power, latency-critical software across split-compute architectures, mentoring engineers and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Role focuses on XR framework components, microXR split compute, input routing, immersive audio, and rendering, with opportunities to influence multiple layers from devices to Android OS frameworks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in C++.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
• Experience with consumer product development and Android Platform/OS/Internals.

Responsibilities

• Architect, guide, and vet XR framework designs and write product or framework code.
• Write robust, reliable software for environments from bare-metal to cloud.
• Communicate decisions via architecture/design documents and code.
• Mentor and train team members on architecture, standards, and best practices.
• Review code and contribute to engineering efficiency and processes.
