Job summary

CHIRP Robotics in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Embedded Systems Engineer with a strong software focus to contribute to our embedded platforms. You will design, build and deploy highly embedded systems, bring up bare-metal code, and develop low-level drivers.

Work with ARM architectures, AXI4, JTAG/GDB, and lightweight RTOS like Zephyr or FreeRTOS. You will collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure tight software–hardware integration and deliver efficient networking-enabled firmware with

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years of experience in embedded systems.
• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Willing to work on site in Torrance, CA.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with assembly debugging.
• Strong understanding of memory-mapped I/O and embedded principles.
• Experience with RTOS concepts and lightweight OS selection.
• Familiarity with ARM-based architectures and AXI4 interfaces.
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and Ethernet.

Responsibilities

• Develop and debug firmware for embedded systems using C/C++, JTAG, and GDB.
• Bring up embedded systems from bare metal, including bootloader initialization.
• Select and implement lightweight RTOS solutions such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
• Develop and optimize low-level drivers and embedded components.
• Apply networking principles and Ethernet fundamentals in firmware.
• Implement data structures like circular buffers and queues.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure proper software-hardware integration.
