Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer for Starlink in Bastrop, TX. You will design and implement high-availability software for consumer devices, gateways, and telemetry systems across millions of devices worldwide.

The role emphasizes low-level embedded development, Linux-based software, and collaboration with hardware and testing teams. You should have 5+ years of software experience and strong C/C++ skills, with exposure to ARM or RISC-V processors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a STEM discipline and 5+ years of professional software experience; or 7+ years in lieu of a degree.
• Development experience in C, C++, Golang, Python, or Rust.
• Experience with embedded or low level systems development.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant software for Starlink devices and gateways.
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews.
• Develop prototypes to validate key design concepts and quantify constraints.
• Write Linux-based software for common processors and microcontrollers (ARM, RISC-V).
• Develop test environments including virtualized hardware and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
• Create tools to enable more frequent and reliable deployment and telemetry analysis.
