$150,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join our growing team building innovative connected devices. This role will focus on developing embedded software for next-generation IoT products, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled smart thermometers that seamlessly integrate with mobile applications. You’ll work in a collaborative, agile environment while driving development from concept through delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead embedded software development for new IoT devices, including hardware bring-up, firmware design, and system integration.
- Own programs from start to finish: task planning, execution, and team feedback.
- Design and implement embedded software in Rust and C for bare-metal and RTOS-based systems.
- Develop and optimize communication protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) for seamless device-to-app connectivity.
- Integrate with sensors and controllers using SPI and I²C protocols.
- Partner with systems engineers to validate performance and ensure reliability in real-world applications.
- Collaborate with companion teams (Android/iOS developers, product, hardware) to ensure end-to-end functionality.
- Apply agile best practices and work effectively in asynchronous collaboration environments.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and ensure high-quality, testable code.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of professional experience in embedded software/firmware engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Rust and C.
- Hands-on experience with IoT development (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
- Experience with SPI and I²C communications.
- Proficient with Git and common Git workflows.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Jira, and collaboration tools (MS Office or similar).
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Strong communication and ability to work autonomously in cross-functional teams.
- Passion for food, grilling, and building connected experiences.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
- Background in IoT product development from industries like consumer electronics, automotive, or tools (e.g., Milwaukee Tool, Chamberlain Group, Ford).
- Hands-on maker attitude: personal projects such as building grills, home automation systems, or 3D printers.
- Familiarity with quality systems and safety-critical design is a plus.
