Job summary

Valinor Reflex in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a small, hands-on team building a low-profile smart optics system for wearable form factor.

You will own software close to the hardware, from bringing up new boards and Linux drivers to debugging firmware and system-level issues, bridging the hardware/software boundary and collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware.
• Strong C/C++ and Python programming skills.
• Hands-on experience with embedded Linux and device drivers.
• Ability to debug firmware and system-level problems from first principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop low-level embedded software and firmware in C/C++ and Python.
• Bring up new boards and hardware platforms from prototype to reliable operation.
• Develop and debug Linux device drivers, BSPs, and Device Tree configurations.
• Develop and debug DDR initialization firmware.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to translate hardware requirements into software.
• Debug across hardware and software using logs, scopes, analyzers.
• Maintain embedded Linux systems using Yocto or similar build systems.
• Contribute to user-space tooling and Python applications as needed.
• Shape embedded architecture as Reflex moves toward field-ready systems.
