Job summary

Infleqtion is seeking a senior software/systems engineer to own substantial software and systems challenges across design, implementation, validation, and deployment for its quantum-classical computing platform.

You will collaborate with software engineers, physicists, and systems engineers to deliver reliable software, while learning the quantum domain and contributing to performance improvements and new capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience in software engineering for high-performance and quantum domains is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software for quantum-classical computing systems.
• Build components and interfaces coordinating computation across CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, and accelerators.
• Ensure software meets demanding latency, throughput, and reliability targets.
• Integrate software with heterogeneous platforms and high-speed interconnects.
• Analyze performance, identify bottlenecks, and improve scalability and reliability.
• Develop tooling, benchmarks, testing infrastructure, and observability capabilities.
• Troubleshoot issues across applications, OS, drivers, runtimes, networking, and hardware.
• Collaborate across engineering, physics, and external partners to evolve the platform.
• Contribute to code reviews, design reviews, and technical documentation.
• Mentor other engineers and provide technical guidance.

Job Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software for high-performance quantum-classical computing systems.
• Building software components and interfaces that coordinate computation across classical and quantum computing resources.
• Developing systems that operate under demanding latency, throughput, bandwidth, and reliability requirements.
• Integrating software with heterogeneous computing platforms including CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, accelerators, and high-speed networking or interconnect technologies.
• Analyzing system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and improving scalability and reliability.
• Developing tools, benchmarks, test infrastructure, and observability capabilities for complex computing systems.
• Troubleshooting challenges spanning applications, operating systems, drivers, runtimes, networking, firmware, and hardware.
• Collaborating with software engineers, physicists, electrical engineers, systems engineers, external technology partners, and researchers to develop new computing capabilities.
• Writing maintainable, well-tested software and contributing to code reviews, design reviews, and technical documentation.
• Providing technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Rapidly evaluating and prototyping new technologies as the quantum and high-performance computing ecosystem evolves.

You do not need previous quantum-computing experience to be successful in this role.We are looking for exceptional software and systems engineers who are excited to learn the quantum domain.

• Ability to learnquickly, reason about complex computing systems and turn difficultrequirementsinto reliable software
• High-performance computing (HPC) systems, supercomputing environments, or HPC job schedulers such as Slurm or PBS.
• GPU or accelerator programming, including CUDA or similar programming models.
• Distributed systems, high-performance networking, or low-latency communication.
• RoCE,RDMA, high-speed Ethernet, InfiniBand, or other high-bandwidth interconnect technologies.
• Heterogeneous computing involving CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, or other accelerators.
• Embedded Linux, firmware, device drivers, or hardware/software integration.
• Performance profiling, benchmarking, modeling, and optimization.
• Scientific computing, numerical computing, or research software.
• Real-time or latency-sensitive systems.
• FPGA-accelerated computing.
• Quantum computing, quantum control, quantum error correction, or quantum software frameworks such as CUDA-Q.
• Developing software in R&D or rapid-prototyping environments.
• Collaborating with external scientific, academic, government, or technology partners.
• Open-source software development.

Role Scope

This position is a senior-level individual contributor role. You will independently own significant software and systems problems from design through implementation, validation, integration, and deployment. You will collaborate closely with technical leads and engineers across disciplines and will have opportunities to influence the evolution of Infleqtion’s quantum computing platform.

The targeted salary range for this role is$165,000to$225,000on an annualized basis plus eligibility toparticipatein our annual incentive plan.
