Job summary

Optimum is seeking a Product Security Engineer focused on embedded systems to strengthen security across video, broadband, and Wi-Fi devices. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to embed security into the full lifecycle.

Responsibilities include threat modeling, risk assessments, security testing, SBOM management, and mentoring teams in secure-by-design practices. Strong cryptography and hardware security skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years delivering security-critical systems for internet-connected embedded devices.
• Expertise in embedded systems security, threat modeling, risk assessment, and secure development practices.
• Excellent communication skills, able to convey security concepts to leadership.
• Experience with AI/ML security concepts and governance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering to embed security guardrails across the product lifecycle.
• Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments early in development.
• Perform security testing and reviews to remediate vulnerabilities.
• Lead automation of security processes across workstation, cloud, and data centers.
• Educate teams to foster a security-first culture and best practices.
• Stay current on threats and technologies to drive security improvements.
• Contribute to incident response and vulnerability disclosure processes.
• Perform firmware analysis and hardware security testing (JTAG/SWD, UART, SPI/I2C).
• Define SBOM management and CVE triage processes for devices.
• Uphold secure-by-design requirements per IoT/embedded standards.
