Job summary

Ambiq Micro, Inc. in Austin, TX seeks a Principal Embedded Software Engineer - Security to lead Secure Bootrom/Bootloader and SDK security for Apollo MCU platforms. The role requires hands-on lab work with bare metal and RTOS, and close collaboration with architecture and design teams.

Ideal candidates have deep embedded security experience, strong C/C++, and a track record of delivering secure, scalable MCU software. On-site work in NW Austin is required.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in EE, CE, or CS with 14+ years embedded experience.
• 3+ years of team management experience preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency in C; strong C++ and OO extensions.
• Strong knowledge of ARM, RTOS, and low-level drivers (I2C, SPI, UART).
• Experience with Secure Boot, PKI, AES/RSA/ECC, TrustZone, CryptoCell.
• Familiarity with debuggers (JTAG, Saleae), Git, Python, Bash.
• Understanding of embedded security implications and IoT security concepts.
• Proficiency with GCC and MCU IDEs (ARM, Keil, IAR, Eclipse).
• Strong problem solving for HW/SW debug, FPGA/Silicon testing.
• Technical leadership in CI/CD and automated testing; mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for MCU software features and new products.
• Potential to grow into a people manager role over time.
• Define and implement new security features with Design, Architecture, Verification, and Applications teams.
• Participate in pre-silicon FPGA emulation and post-silicon validation of Secure Bootrom/Bootloader.
• Integrate runtime cryptographic operations with hardware accelerators.
• Collaborate with SQA and System Test to define test cases for security deliverables.
• Develop HAL and BSP for the SDK and maintain security aspects of the MCU SDK.
