Job summary

Teal Drones in Salt Lake City seeks a Sr. Embedded Linux Software Engineer to develop, maintain, and improve core software services on our drone SOM.

You will work on C/C++ Linux utilities, system daemons, networking, and logging, with tight integration to the flight stack and ground-control ecosystem. The role requires comfort debugging near the OS in a resource-constrained Ubuntu-based environment and contributing to both maintenance and new features.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience developing in C/C++ on Linux.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems, services, networking, and startup behavior.
• Experience with Bash, Python, or similar scripting.
• Practical networking experience including UDP, DHCP, DNS, and routing.
• Experience with embedded or resource-constrained Linux platforms.
• Ability to debug complex system-level issues using logs and tools.
• Reliability, maintainability, and observability in production systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot C/C++ utilities and services on an embedded Linux SOM.
• Support drone management services for networking, radio, and system coordination.
• Improve PX4 log handling and flight logging workflows.
• Design and build logging/diagnostics for system, application, flight, and network data.
• Work with bootup, startup scripts, and system processes.
• Collaborate with flight software, manufacturing, test, and QA teams.
• Contribute clean, maintainable system software for constrained production environments.
