Job summary

Urban Sky in Denver, CO is seeking a Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to own the firmware, imaging pipeline, and data-movement stack behind our EO/IR payloads—spanning sensor at the focal plane to the ground link.

You will develop the CUDA image processing pipeline and architect high-rate data paths that connect the payload to customers. Strong CUDA, PCIe, and Jetson experience are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years embedded firmware in C/C++ on embedded Linux or bare-metal/RTOS
• Hands-on experience shipping on NVIDIA Jetson or similar
• Deep experience moving high-rate data over PCIe (driver, DMA, endpoint/root-complex)
• Experience building end-to-end camera/imaging systems from sensor to consumer
• Working with image processing pipelines and CUDA or GPU-accelerated processing
• Strong networking, data routing, and C2 infrastructure
• Solid hardware debugging skills from schematics
• Experience with optical calibration and characterization in processing pipelines
• Familiarity with motion/temporal compensation techniques for imaging

Responsibilities

• Own embedded firmware for EO/IR payloads: sensor bring-up, driver development, edge compute on NVIDIA Jetson platforms
• Integrate cameras over PCIe, MIPI/CSI, and USB; develop board-support packages for carrier boards and SOMs
• Own L0 image processing pipeline in CUDA at the edge: debayering, white balance, gamma, and lens correction
• Own IR processing: non-uniformity correction, bad-pixel replacement, radiometric calibration
• Develop multi-frame super-resolution and related computational imaging capabilities
• Implement imagery metadata (KLV/MISB) for accurate pointing, position, and time
• Architect high-throughput data paths across vehicle; PCIe as a core tech; data routing to links
• Optimize for latency, throughput, determinism; balance pipeline compute with onboard ML
• Integrate payload firmware with gimbal/motion-control stack; consume pointing commands
• Maintain optical calibrations: distortion modeling, vignetting, MTF/sharpness
• Implement motion/temporal compensation for moving platforms
