Job summary

Broadcom’s Physical Layer Products group seeks an experienced embedded firmware engineer to design, implement, and verify low-level firmware for embedded systems. You will help develop features for Broadcom's range of embedded products in Irvine and San Jose, collaborating with cross-functional hardware and software teams.

The role emphasizes strong C and ARM assembly skills, real-time programming, multithreading, and driver experience (MDIO, I2C, SPI).

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor's and 8+ years of related experience; postgraduate coursework may be desirable or Masters degree and 6+ years of related experience or PhD and 3+ years of related experience
• Strong embedded firmware development experience in C/assembly for real-time embedded systems
• Experience with cross-functional hardware teams (analog/digital) and drivers
• Desire to design, implement, and test firmware modules, middleware, and diagnostics
• Proven ability to lead architecture and code hygiene practices in a team environment

Responsibilities

• Software design, development of new products and maintenance of legacy products.
• Work often involves cross-functional system, analog and digital hardware designer teams.
• Troubleshoot code for firmware (embedded C code) applications.
• Provide leadership and expertise in standards, architectural governance, design patterns, and code hygiene practices
• Act as an ambassador for Broadcom, recruiting and motivating top talent
