Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to develop and maintain middleware and low-level C code for embedded platforms, collaborating with SoC vendor software such as Broadcom or Qualcomm. You will work with platform architects and QA teams to ensure robust networking and device performance.

The role emphasizes debugging across middleware, network stack, and hardware interaction, with focus on IP networking, Wi‑Fi protocols, and Linux-based systems.

Qualifications

• Strong hands on experience in embedded systems development.
• Good understanding of middleware frameworks (RDK experience highly preferred).
• Solid knowledge of C programming in a resource constrained environment.
• Experience working with System on Chip (SoC) vendor software (e.g. Broadcom, Qualcomm).
• Understanding of:
• o IP networking fundamentals
• o Wi Fi packet protocols & wireless communication
• o HTTP and higher level network protocols
• Proven ability to debug low level system issues.
• Experience with Linux based embedded systems.

Responsibilities

• Work within the middleware layer to ensure smooth communication between applications and hardware.

• Use logs, traces, and debugging tools to identify root causes and deliver fixes.
• Work with IP based protocols including DHCP, DNS, TCP/UDP, HTTP, and higher level APIs.
• Understand and debug packet level behaviour in wireless connectivity systems.
• Collaborate with network and platform teams to optimise communication paths.
• Write clean, maintainable, low level code in C for embedded platforms.
• Improve existing features, enhance stability, and optimise performance.
• Support ongoing system upgrades and feature rollouts.
• Work closely with SoC vendors, platform architects, and QA teams.
• Participate in technical discussions, solution design, and code reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Experience

• Scripting knowledge (Python, Bash) for automation or testing.
