Job description

Job Description Summary

We are seeking a Senior Control Engineer to join our Research & Innovation team, driving the development of next-generation power conversion technologies for grid-scale energy systems. This role sits at the intersection of advanced R&D and practical application, delivering solutions from concept through prototype to product. You will innovate across power semiconductors, converter topologies, and control systems while collaborating with global engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. Are you ready to join our world-class team of researchers and do you have “The Energy to Change the World”? Relocation Assistance provided for candidates in the United States.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and develop embedded firmware for power converters control systems including control boards, control hardware integration, and control auxiliaries.
  • Design and implement robust control solutions for power converters, closed-loop control systems, and embedded communications interfaces such as UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter), SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface), and I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit).
  • Write, compile, test, and debug firmware throughout the full product development lifecycle, from concept through validation and release.
  • Develop, maintain, and use simulation models of power converters to validate system behavior before deployment of hardware.
  • Apply strong systems knowledge in semiconductors devices, gate drivers, current, voltage and thermal transducers with an understanding of the interactions between electrical design and in complex power converter system design.
  • Analyze and interpret electrical schematics, hardware interfaces, and control system behavior to support development and root cause investigations.
  • Perform hands-on hardware debugging and validation in a high-voltage laboratory environment using equipment such as digital multimeters and oscilloscopes, while adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Lead or support validation testing of control software and hardware, including issue debugging, failure reproduction, and investigation of field-reported events.
  • Review product requirements and technical specifications to ensure they are complete, clear, and testable, and provide recommendations that improve product quality and engineering processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across the organization engineering teams to develop reliable, high-performing control systems and ensure successful system integration.
  • Mentor junior engineers by providing technical guidance, sharing best practices, and supporting team capability growth.
  • Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders, with the ability to connect detailed engineering work to broader system and business objectives.
  • Identify and apply AI-enabled tools and methods to improve engineering efficiency, quality, and ways of working.
  • Document innovations through patents, technical reports, and peer-reviewed publications.
