Compass Systems Inc. in Johnstown, PA seeks a Senior Electronics Technician to support advanced electronic development, prototyping, testing and production in our manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with electrical systems, troubleshooting, prototype builds, testing, and manufacturing support, and will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to improve performance and production efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in electronics development, manufacturing, or production.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Experience with prototype development, product testing, and production transition activities.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies and read schematics/technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Support advanced electronics prototyping, development builds, and product validation activities.
• Assemble, modify, test, and troubleshoot complex electronic assemblies and systems.
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
• Troubleshoot using test equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other diagnostic tools.
• Identify root causes of electronic failures and implement corrective actions.
• Support manufacturing operations by resolving technical issues impacting production.
• Develop and refine test methods, procedures, and work instructions for production readiness.
• Assist with design improvements focused on reliability, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
• Collaborate with engineers on prototype builds, design verification testing, and process improvements.
• Create and maintain technical and production documentation and test records.
• Train and mentor technicians on electronic processes and troubleshooting techniques.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent hands‑on experience considered.
• 10+ years of experience supporting electronics development, manufacturing, or production environments.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Experience with prototype development, product testing, and production transition activities.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic assemblies and proficiency using electronic test equipment and diagnostic tools.
• Experience reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hardware assemblies and electro‑mechanical systems.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and production teams

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to learn and apply new information and/or skills.
• Must be able to interpret data, information, and documents.
• Occasional Travel may be required.
• Occasionally will need to lift/and or move up to 45lbs
• Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
• Moderate environment temperature and noise level.
• Regularly works around moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
• Noise level may be loud at times.
