Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and enhance mechanical, electrical and electro‑mechanical systems for power tools.
  • Prepare design concepts for analysis and rapid prototype validation.
  • Lead projects with global internal teams, suppliers and operations from design to launch.
  • Coordinate and drive testing; work with lab technicians to ensure objectives are met.
  • Develop and maintain documentation: layouts, drawings, BOMs, test plans and files.
  • Provide support to sourcing, manufacturing, QA and product management.

Job description

Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer

Location: Hampton, NJ

Power tools Electro-Mechanical Engineer dedicated to new product development located in Hampton, NJ. At Ingersoll Rand Power Tools, we design, engineer and manufacture cordless and corded electric power tools for the assembly, industrial and vehicle repair markets. This person will work closely with global cross‑functional teams comprised of software, firmware, electrical and mechanical engineers as well as strategic sourcing partners, quality, operations, and product management. The Mechatronics Engineer’s responsibilities are to develop new power tools by creating new product concepts, prototypes, testing and developing final designs ready for commercial launch. This person must be a team player, form strong ties with others, manage a multitude of tasks, communicate clearly, and be effective and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and enhance mechanical, electrical and electro‑mechanical systems for innovative new power tools that meet customer needs and global industry standards.
  • Prepare design concepts for analysis and rapid prototype validation.
  • Lead projects while collaborating with global internal team members, suppliers and operations from conceptual design through production launch.
  • Coordinate and drive the completion of testing. Work closely and cooperatively with lab technicians during test execution to assure that test objectives are met.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including layouts, drawings, specifications, bills of material, test plans, lab reports and technical construction files.
  • Provide support to strategic sourcing partners, manufacturing, customer service, procurement, quality assurance departments and product management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electro‑mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience
Key Competencies
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Expertise in electronic circuit and electrical design, including microprocessors, sensors, wiring, connectors, and PCBAs; Altium experience preferred.
  • Experience integrating wireless technologies such as Wi‑Fi 6, 5G, Zigbee, and Bluetooth into electro‑mechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product design fundamentals, including tolerance stack‑ups, inspections, and reliability‑focused design.
  • Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and direct technical resources.
  • Preferred experience with electric motor controls, 3D modeling, Windchill PLM, Creo Parametric, and cordless power tools.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Fully site based
Pay Range

The pay range for this role is $140,000 - $165,000.
