Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies seeks a Staff Electrical Systems Engineer to own architecture and integration across LV/HV power, harness strategy, and zonal interfaces for US programs. You will define topology, allocate devices, and ensure traceable requirements across Rivian and VW Group platforms.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• ~8+ years in electrical systems engineering on automotive or complex embedded products.
• Ownership of an electrical system or domain through a full development cycle.
• Experience with LV/HV power systems, electrical distribution, and wiring harness design.
• Requirements decomposition, interface definition, and validation coverage.
• Experience negotiating technical requirements with suppliers.
• Knowledge of vehicle networks (CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet).
• Familiarity with ISO 26262 functional safety as applied to electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical architecture for assigned domains including LV/HV power distribution, harness strategy and I/O definitions.
• Define zonal topology inputs and allocate devices to zonal controllers.
• Define LV power architecture: batteries, DC-DC converters, eFuses, bus management and fault handling.
• Develop mission profiles and accessory power requirements with load budgets.
• Decompose system specs to subsystem interfaces with full traceability.
• Negotiate requirements with suppliers and internal owners.
• Define hardware-driven software requirements for embedded teams.
• Review schematics for conformance to architecture.
• Develop and execute validation plans (unit, SIL, HIL, vehicle).
• Lead root-cause analysis and resolve electrical issues.
• Evaluate new technologies and support R&D maturation.
• Align electrical system boundaries with vehicle software teams across programs.
