Job summary

NIAR at Wichita State University seeks a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer as an independent contractor to support diverse client programs. You will specify, design, and integrate EWIS architectures and manage system requirements through certification.

Requirements include a 10+ year background in electrical engineering, familiarity with aviation standards, and the ability to obtain a DOD secret clearance. On-site work 80% and collaboration with internal and external teams are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering.
• Ten years of experience.
• Ability to obtain a DOD secret security clearance.
• Proficient in analog and digital circuit design and analysis.
• Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 23/25 regulations and Advisory Circulars.
• Experience with ARP4754, DO-178C, DO-254, ARINC 429/664, MIL-STD-1553, RTCA/DO-160.
• Experience with FAA, EASA and other authorities.
• Capability to lead teams and mentor junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Specify, design, and integrate architecture and system functions.
• Define system architectures to meet airworthiness and EWIS standards.
• Develop docs and schematics for avionics integration and interfaces.
• Review electrical product detail, racks, wiring, and antennas.
• Manage system requirements from concept through certification.
• Draft Certification Plans with Designees for compliance.
• Support safety analyses and design optimization.
• Produce engineering documentation for system certification.
