Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chicago seeks a Senior Electrical Designer to lead planning, design, and construction documentation for a diverse portfolio of projects. You will supervise electrical schematics, grid layouts, lighting and power systems, and ensure compliance with company, client, and project standards.

This role requires expertise in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel, with strong 2D and 3D drafting, advanced design calculations, and ability to mentor staff while coordinating with engineers

Qualifications

• Bachelor/Associate degree with extensive related experience (13–15 years) is required.
• Expert in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Excel for design deliverables.
• Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical project designs including schematics, grid layouts, power systems, lighting, protection and controls.
• Oversee drawing production, design layout, and calculations for non-routine assignments.
• Mentor drafting staff and coordinate with project managers and engineers.
