Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Tempe, Arizona is seeking an Electrical Service Specialist to lead installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of medium and low voltage power systems. You will work on transformers, switchgear, relays, motor control centers, VFDs, and metering.

You will perform site surveys, provide customer training, plan labor and costs for complex proposals, and respond to emergencies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical control circuits; ability to obtain thermography certification.
  • 5+ years experience with electrical testing including current injection, resistance, dielectric, and thermal scans on MV/LV systems.
  • 5+ years experience using electrical test sets to perform AC/DC high-potential testing, turns ratio testing, power factor testing, and related procedures.
  • Experience interpreting protective coordination studies and testing, and configuring protective relays.
  • Reading bills of materials, electrical blueprints, and power system study reports.
  • Installation, commissioning, and maintenance of low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
  • Awareness of arc flash and shock hazards of 13.8 kV and Siemens gear (GIS, AIS, WL, RL, SB breakers).
  • Familiar with ANSI, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and NETA codes and standards.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and valid driver's license; US work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead basic to complex installation and checkout of electrical components for systems and service installed jobs and service agreements.
  • Perform emergency troubleshooting of power distribution products and third‑party equipment; execute complex upgrades and retrofits for low‑voltage distribution.
  • Conduct onsite technical and operational support in design, development, installation, and maintenance of complex equipment and systems.
  • Provide instructions to customers and train staff on operation and inspection; submit reports covering job activity and maintain tools and calibration items.
  • Plan and estimate labor, materials, and transportation for complex proposals; review task plans and installation schematics with project teams.

Electrical ServiceSpecialists perform complexstartup,commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshootingofmediumandlow voltage electrical power systems.This power systems include,but are not limited to transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear/switchboard, protective relays, motor control centers, VFDs, cable,andmetering and backup power supplies.

As an Electrical Service Specialist, you will:
  • Lead basic to complex installation and checkout of electric and electronic components for systems and service installed jobs and service agreements. Tasks are associated with maintenance and testingofswitchgear/switchboard, motor controls, circuit breakers, panel boards, transformers, and surge protection devices. Responsible for vibration analysis and metering, battery maintenance and testing, power monitoring, power quality, and protective relay maintenance.
  • Install wiring andconnectto the power source. Perform emergency troubleshooting of power distribution products andthird-party equipment. Performcomplex service upgrades, reconditioning, retrofits, etc. for low-voltage power distribution products and systems.
  • Perform onsite technical and operational support in the design, development, installation,and maintenance of equipment and systems of a complex nature. Perform complex site surveys to develop base or installation design plans.
  • Provideinstructions to customer personnelregardingproper operation and routine inspections.Train customers tomaintainand adjust complex equipment.Provideexpert advice, training, and technicalassistanceto support staff and trainlower-levelemployees. Complete andsubmitreports covering all jobactivity. Responsible formaintainingcomplex tools, test equipment, calibration items, etc.
  • Plan and estimatelabor categories, rates, material dollar costs, and transportation expenses to complete complex proposals. Perform review of complex task plans, drawings, and installation schematics;providecontinual guidance throughout the project duration.
  • Must be available to respondtoemergency and relief assignments.
You will make an impact with these qualifications:
BasicQualifications:
  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED
  • 5+years of experience troubleshootingandrepairingelectrical control circuitsand abilityto obtain thermographycertification
  • 5+years of experiencewithelectrical testing, including but not limited to primary current injection testing, resistance testing, dielectric testing, and thermal scans on medium and low-voltage electricalsystems

  • On-the-job or educational experience with:

  • Must be 18 years of age andpossessa valid driver's license with limited violations; must meet eligibility requirements toparticipatein Siemens' fleet vehicle program
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without companysponsorship

The pay range for this position is$66,259 - $113,587 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
