HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead utility-scale power generation design and related Owner's Engineer activities. You will mentor engineers, manage client relationships, and help develop proposals and project scopes for traditional and renewable energy projects.
The role emphasizes leadership across multi‑discipline teams, with a focus on power plant systems, protection, grounding, and design reliability. Travel is limited, primarily for meetings and site visits.

We are seeking a qualified Senior Electrical Engineer to help our clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor.
The Senior Electrical Power Engineer candidate should have experience within the utility‑scale power and renewable energy industry and be capable of leading teams for power generation design projects, including supporting a traditional Owner’s Engineering role. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance‑of‑plant designs such as raceway, lighting, and grounding systems. In addition, the candidate will be expected to mentor young engineers, support in managing client relationships, and lead marketing activities including proposal technical writing, fee builds, and work breakdown structure development in response to requests for proposals. A significant level of design and engineer‑of‑record work experience with power plant systems is required.
Primary Location: United States, Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Compensation range for this position: $108,661 – $204,250 (for New Jersey: $131,537 – $204,250).
