Job summary

ALTEN Technology USA, a leading engineering partner in aerospace, automotive, and medical devices, seeks an experienced PCB/Schematic Designer in Long Beach, CA. On-site four days a week with Friday remote, you’ll own Altium-based development of display driver and infotainment boards and drive high-speed layout and EMC/ESD compliance.

Successful candidates bring 7+ years in schematic/PCB design, automotive-grade qualification, and library governance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in schematic and PCB design for automotive or consumer electronics.
• Expert Altium Designer with library governance and migration experience.
• Experience with high density, high speed layouts and signal integrity.

Responsibilities

• Own schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium for display driver and infotainment boards.
• Design space-constrained multilayer boards with LVDS, MIPI, and eDP routing.
• EMC and ESD conscious layout including grounding, shielding, and filtering.
• Support vehicle electrical architecture integration and BOM linkage.
• Drive part selection and qualification to AEC standards; manage obsolescence.
• Link design data to BOM and purchasing.
• Collaborate with mechanical on package and enclosure; EMI improvements.
• Run design reviews, DFx, bring up, debug prototype boards.
• Generate fabrication and assembly docs and manage change process.

Responsibilities

• Own schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium for display driver boards, interface boards, and infotainment hardware
• Design highly integrated, space constrained multilayer boards with attention to signal integrity, high speed differential routing for LVDS, MIPI, and eDP, power integrity, and thermal relief
• Execute EMC and ESD conscious layout including grounding strategy, shielding, and filtering
• Support low voltage power architecture and integration into the vehicle's zonal electrical architecture
• Build, govern, and maintain the Altium component library: symbols, footprints, 3D models, parametric data, naming conventions, IPC compliant footprint rules, and a review and approval workflow for new parts
• Drive part selection and qualification against AEC-Q100, Q101, and Q200 grade, temperature range, lifecycle and end of life risk, and package suitability for the vehicle environment, and own second sourcing and obsolescence risk
• Link library and design data to the BOM and requirements environment so what is in the schematic matches what purchasing can buy
• Partner with mechanical on board outline, connector placement, mounting, and enclosure fit under aggressive packaging targets
• Run design reviews, work DFM and DFT feedback with EMS partners, and support bring up, debug, and validation of prototype boards
• Generate and maintain fabrication and assembly documentation and release hardware through the formal change process

Required Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent, 7+ years of schematic and PCB design experience
• Expert level Altium Designer including vault or workspace based library management. Cadence Allegro, Mentor Xpedition, Zuken CR-8000, or OrCAD backgrounds considered where the candidate has owned library governance and the transition to Altium is realistic
• Demonstrated high speed, high density layout on consumer or automotive electronics
• Solid grasp of component packaging, IPC footprint standards, datasheet interpretation, and automotive grade component qualification
• Exposure to a PLM or BOM environment such as Teamcenter, Windchill, Enovia, Agile PLM, or Arena, and comfort releasing hardware through a formal change process
• Familiarity with CISPR 25, ISO 11452, and ISO 10605 is a plus
• Hands on lab skills: scope, bring up, and root cause on your own designs

Salary Range

• $150,000 - 165,000
• The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
