Job summary

Rosendin Electric, Inc. is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead bid preparation and cost estimation for electrical construction projects. You will coordinate with estimators, suppliers, and customers to generate competitive estimates from take-offs and reviews of specs and drawings.

Responsibilities include mentoring junior estimators, maintaining documentation, and coordinating with the Chief Estimator to finalize scope and pricing prior to bid packages. 10% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints or engineering drawings.
• Perform arithmetic calculations required for estimating.
• Estimate all project types and supervise group work to meet deadlines.
• Mentor and develop junior estimators.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under changing priorities.

Senior Estimator – Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete bid/submittal documents and cost estimates for electrical construction projects.
• Lead estimation efforts and collaborate with other estimators, suppliers, and customers.
• Generate estimates from quantity take‑offs and produce computer printouts.
• Identify key project components that enable competitive estimates.
• Review specifications, drawings, and attend pre‑bid meetings to define scope of work.
• Assess value‑engineering opportunities for cost savings.
• Provide leadership to personnel preparing discipline sub‑estimates for assigned bids.
• Maintain working documents and data to support estimate figures.
• Develop labor productivity and installation unit costs based on site conditions and historical data.
• Compile detailed material and equipment listings; solicit supplier quotes.
• Verify quote completeness and compliance with plans and specs.
• Ensure timely completion of all client‑required documents.
• Draft scope/proposal letters for bids and negotiated projects.
• Coordinate with the Chief Estimator for review of scope, technical requirements, and pricing prior to formal bid package issuance.
• Communicate with Project Management at project turnover to explain scope and critical areas for smooth transition.
• Update Rosendin-approved estimating program and maintain filing of supporting documents.

Qualifications

• Professional interaction with all employee levels, vendors, and clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years of estimating or related construction experience.
• Experience with Accubid, Livecount Cloud, and Bluebeam preferred.
• Experience with CAD or 3‑D software preferred.

Travel

• Up to 10% travel.

Working Conditions

General work environment involves sitting for extended periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and bending. Work is primarily indoors with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning. Noise level is typically low to medium, occasionally higher on a job site. Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
