Job summary

Henderson Engineers, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer/Designer to guide complex electrical building systems for our Venue Sector, including airports, arenas, stadiums. You will lead design from concept through construction, coordinate with project teams, and mentor junior staff.

You will apply advanced technical expertise, ensure quality, and contribute to business development while upholding client-centric service in a collaborative, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

Summary

Electrical Engineers and Electrical Designers are responsible for the design, coordination, documentation, and delivery of electrical building systems for our Venue Sector. Think environments like Airports, Convention Centers, Theatres, Concert Venues, Rec Centers, Gyms, Collegiate and Professional Sports Arenas, Stadiums, and Training Facilities. Depending on experience level, individuals may perform engineering calculations, prepare and review design documents, coordinate with project teams, manage tasks or projects, provide technical leadership, mentor others, and support business development activities. All team members are expected to uphold a client‑centric mindset, demonstrate quality and integrity, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and continuously learning environment.

Position Summary

Responsible for guiding complex electrical engineering efforts. This role provides advanced technical expertise, leads discipline teams, oversees project quality, mentors designers and engineers, resolves major design and construction challenges, and contributes to practice‑level strategy, operations, and business development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering design from concept through completion for complex or large‑scale projects.
  • Direct or oversee the preparation of design documents, system layouts, detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Develop solutions to advanced and highly complex engineering problems, providing discipline‑wide technical guidance.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach across teams and practices, including supervising less‑experienced designers and engineers.
  • Participate in or lead staffing recommendations, training initiatives, and technical strategy development.
  • Provide quality oversight, including conducting and/or issuing final quality reviews to ensure compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Communicate with clients, resolve conflicts, and provide leadership in responding to technical questions or design challenges.
  • Lead or support strategic business development efforts and maintain key client and partner relationships.
  • Serve as Engineer of Record when assigned, ensuring technical accuracy, accountability, and adherence to professional standards.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (electrical, mechanical, fire protection, or architectural).
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Additional technical certifications (e.g., RCDD, NICET, CPD, LEED, WELL) highly preferred.
  • Advanced to expert proficiency in electrical engineering design, applicable codes and standards, Revit, Bluebeam, and construction processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead discipline coordination and manage complex or large‑scale project scopes.
  • MEP/Construction Industry experience.
  • High technical aptitude: ability to learn, understand and utilize various systems and processes.
  • Effective critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and engineering design software applicable to your discipline or focus.
  • Clear communication and willingness to ask questions.
  • Accountability, reliability, and ethical behavior.
