Job summary

MK2 Engineers seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for our MEP building projects in California. The role demands a deep knowledge of code compliance, lighting and power systems, and collaboration with architects and civil engineers.

Candidates should have a California PE or be able to obtain one within a year, plus at least 10 years in electrical design within US A/E or design-build firms. The firm supports growth and sustainable design.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of electrical system design experience in US-based A/E firms or design-build contractors.
  • 5 years of consulting engineering experience in California.
  • California PE license or ability to acquire PE within a year of employment.
  • BSEE degree from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in California Electrical Code and CA Title 24 Energy Standards, NEC, and NFPA.

Responsibilities

  • Concepts and documentation from schematic through construction administration phases.
  • Design of electrical power and lighting systems for new construction, retrofits, and upgrades.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, voltage drop, and short circuit studies.
  • Prepare code research, specifications, technical reports, and system narratives.
  • Site investigations, field visits, and construction support services.
  • Oversee QA/QC and drafting; interface with other disciplines in a collaborative environment.
  • Coordinate with consulting architect, civil, and structural engineers.
