Job summary

RTX's Collins Aerospace is seeking a hardware design engineer to identify replacement components, perform trade studies, and lead small hardware development teams through Engineering Change Proposals.

You will develop verification tests, review technical documentation, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with Configuration Management, Software, Systems Engineering, and Supply Chain on a complex aerospace program.

Qualifications

  • Requires STEM degree with minimum experience or advanced degree with several years in hardware engineering.
  • Experience creating technical documentation related to configuration control, change management, trade studies, and design artifacts.
  • Experience developing detailed verification test plans and test reports.
  • Ability to collaborate in a multi-functional environment (field engineering, supply chain, suppliers, customers).
  • U.S. citizenship required due to access restrictions on certain programs/contracts.
  • Experience designing with COTS hardware is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Linux or Solaris operating systems.
  • Project or team leadership experience.
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience.

What You Will Do

Qualifications
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Experience creating technical documentation related to Configuration Control, Change Management, Trade Studies, and design artifacts.
  • Experience developing detailed verification test plans and test reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a multi-functional environment (e.g., field engineering, supply chain, suppliers, customers).
  • U.S. citizenship required due to access requirements under applicable program/contract regulations.
  • Experience designing with COTS hardware (Preferred).
  • Familiarity with Linux or Solaris operating systems.
  • Project or team leadership experience.
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience.
