Job summary

Twenty-Six Defense is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as a SME in RF, power analysis, and high-speed digital/analog board designs. The role supports the Talladega site, providing technical input across design, manufacturing, and sustainment phases.

The incumbent will lead design efforts, perform experiments, and guide others in schematic capture and PCB layout while collaborating with cross-functional teams on multiple programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 4–7+ years of related experience.
  • Experience in two or more areas: CRTs & optics, HUDs, RF, Radar, power supply design, firmware, test software, JTAG, ICT, ESS.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment and support multiple programs.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives in design and development of products.
  • Develop specifications, schematics, BOMs, and assembly drawings; prepare subsystem performance specs.
  • Evaluate and select optimal design alternatives and ensure competitive product designs.
  • Provide directions on materials and processes for component applications.
  • Lead experiments to evaluate operating characteristics and perform testing and troubleshooting.
  • Translate experimental results into design criteria and maintain liaison with other departments.
  • Support manufacturing to resolve design problems and collaborate with purchasing on quotes.
  • Prepare engineering specifications for major purchases and write technical instructions.

Job Summary

This Sr. Electrical Engineer is an experienced level position where the incumbent must possess an advanced level of engineering knowledge and be fully competent in all conventional aspects of broad areas of technical assignment. This Sr. Electrical Engineer will serve as a specialist and Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more of the areas of RF, power analysis, and high-speed digital and analog board designs. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting the teams at the Talladega site, providing technical input and consulting services in all phases of the design, manufacturing, and sustainment processes.

Responsibilities And Tasks
  • Responsible for carrying out specific project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes. May design and layout complex items
  • Develop specifications, schematics, assembly drawings, and bill of materials, against which designs can be produced. Prepares sub-system performance specifications.
  • Evaluate and select optimum design alternatives.
  • Determine design feasibility and ensure that product designs are competitive.
  • Provide directions to others who determine appropriate materials and processes for specific component applications.
  • Lead or conduct experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes. Execute test and troubleshooting activity.
  • Evaluate engineering prototypes and translate experimental results into design criteria.
  • Develop task inputs to engineering project plans and maintain liaison with other departments of the organization.
  • Respond to customer engineering queries and advise others on engineering information relevant to the organization's product capabilities.
  • Provide technical presentation support and consultation for marketing.
  • Represent the engineering unit in customer or field force contacts, troubleshooting customer application problems.
  • Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion. Assume responsibility for successful completion (Schedule, Performance, Cost) of systems and sub-systems.
  • Perform preliminary engineering necessary to confirm plans and programs.
  • Assist in assuring the technical soundness of engineering programs.
  • Support the manufacturing process in resolving design problems.
  • Collaborate with purchasing in obtaining quotations or bids and recommend the selection of vendors.
  • Prepare engineering specifications for major purchases.
  • Prepare reports of field tests, startups, or installations as required and write technical instructions. On a project or on-going basis, supervise the work of other engineering personnel.
  • Contribute to process improvements.
  • Recommend to Management to select appropriate and cost-efficient vendors.
  • During all phases of the design development, manufacturing, and sustainment processes, provide technical input and support to the teams at Talladega in the areas of analogue and digital design and sustainment.
  • Competent in schematic capture, PCB layout, working with external PCB layout service providers,
  • Prior experience with two or more of the following: CRTs & optics, HUDs, RF, Radar, Power supply design, firmware, test software, JTAG, ICT, ESS
  • Able to self-direct and analyze priorities to drive to improved profits.
  • capable of tracking, managing and reporting leadership status of projects
Education, Experience/Knowledge & License/Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent scientific discipline with 4 -7 or more years of experience to be proficient in the above areas or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering degree preferred.
  • Incumbents must possess intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
  • Prior experience with two or more of the following: CRTs & optics, HUDs, RF, Radar, Power supply design, firmware, test software, JTAG, ICT, ESS
  • Have a strong preference to accomplish goals in innovative and cost-effective ways
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to function and effectively communicate in a dynamic, integrated product team environment, supporting a variety of different programs, and often multiple programs every day. The candidate should be experienced in current electronic manufacturing processes and methods, and compact/high-density electronic and component packaging techniques and methods.
Travel/Physical Requirements
  • Approximately 10% travel time (~3-4 trips of up to 1 week each per year) will be required to support multiple sites and cross-site projects.
  • Some domestic travel will be required, and possible international travel.
