Position

The Senior Electrical Engineer for our Products line is responsible for designing cutting-edge components for space and national security applications, including Software Defined Radios, Digital Processing Systems, Space Rated Cameras, Star Trackers, and Laser Communications. The position reports to the VP of Product Design and is based in San Diego, CA. This role is 100% onsite.

Responsibilities
  • Derive and document circuit board requirements from system/top-level requirements.
  • Create schematic drawings and functional/design specifications for complex high-speed PCBs.
  • Layout and/or guide the layout of complex PCBs.
  • Assist with manufacturing of complex PCBs when/where needed.
  • Collaborate with signal integrity, mechanical, and power teams during board design and testing.
  • Develop PCB assembly test plans and procedures to ensure performance meets specifications.
  • Validate designs, troubleshoot, and test complex circuit boards.
  • Meet aggressive/accelerated schedule deadlines.
  • Support internal and external design and development gate reviews with related documentation.
  • Participate in proposals and trade studies, including evaluating contractor and subcontractor proposals for technical feasibility.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience designing high-speed printed circuit boards.
  • Solid understanding of digital logic, signal integrity, power circuitry, and high-speed PCB design and simulation techniques.
  • Experience with FPGAs/PLDs, Ethernet PHYs, high-speed memories, PLLs, voltage regulators, and switching.
  • Knowledge of computer and system architecture.
  • Experience with board simulations and knowledge in processor, DSP, and related interfaces.
  • Experience in taking a project from bring-up through production ramp.
  • Experience in creating/reviewing validation/diagnostic test plans.
  • Experience with developing tests and debugging in the lab.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of analog and power experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform layout of PCBs preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $165,000–$190,000 at the time of this posting. The range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentives. This range may be adjusted in the future and the final offer depends on experience, skills, and location.
