Job description

Electrical Engineer (Data Center Design - End-to-End Power Systems)

This is a full‑time, 40 hours/week, on‑site or remote contract role located in New York, NY.

Summary

This role is a senior Electrical Engineering position responsible for end‑to‑end design oversight of hyperscale data center power infrastructure, spanning utility MV intake through rack‑level power delivery. You will ensure technical integrity, code compliance, and standardization across large‑scale data center electrical systems supporting high‑density AI workloads. This includes reviewing and guiding designs across multiple voltage levels, defining internal engineering standards, and ensuring consistency across a rapidly scaling portfolio targeting multi‑gigawatt deployment. The role requires deep expertise in data center electrical topologies and the ability to evaluate tradeoffs in redundancy, efficiency, and scalability across mission‑critical infrastructure.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in data centers or mission‑critical infrastructure
  • Experience with hyperscale operators (AWS, Google, Meta, Microsoft) or equivalent design firms
  • Strong understanding of full electrical distribution systems (MV to rack‑level)
  • Expertise in electrical topologies (2N, N+1, catcher bus, distributed redundant architectures)
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NEC, NFPA 70/70E/110, IEEE 446/1584, TIA‑942)
  • Ability to review and standardize large‑scale electrical design across multiple projects
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams
Preferred qualifications include
  • Experience with AI/ML or HPC high‑density compute environments
  • Familiarity with EPMS/BMS integration and liquid cooling power distribution
  • PE license (strongly preferred or in progress)
  • Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM PowerTools, and Bluebeam
Responsibilities
  • Provide end‑to‑end technical oversight of electrical designs for hyperscale data centers
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, industry codes, and client requirements
  • Review and validate electrical designs across MV, LV, and rack‑level systems
  • Develop and maintain internal electrical design standards, specifications, and best practices
  • Evaluate electrical topologies and define appropriate architectures for different deployment scenarios
  • Coordinate across engineering disciplines to ensure integrated system design
  • Support high‑density compute and AI infrastructure electrical requirements
  • Identify and mitigate design risks related to reliability, redundancy, and scalability
  • Drive consistency across a rapidly scaling global data center portfolio
Compensation & Benefits
  • The base salary for this W-2 position ranges from $103.85 - $129.81 per hour, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
  • Medical Coverage: Two United Healthcare plans (PPO and HDHP with HSA), with employer contributions toward premiums; coverage begins the 1st of the month after 60 days of employment
  • Dental & Vision: United Healthcare dental with 100% preventive care coverage and vision benefits for exams, frames, lenses, or contacts
  • Wellbeing Support: Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering confidential counseling plus additional wellness and care navigation resources
  • Retirement & Savings: 401(k) eligible after 30 days with automatic 6% enrollment (opt‑out available), 1% annual increases up to 10%, plus HSA with up to $480 employer contribution
  • Voluntary Benefits: Employee‑paid accident insurance and critical illness coverage for major health events
