Purpose
You will provide electrical engineering services to Worley and its customers, including technical support and supervision within the electrical engineering team. The purpose is to manage a team of electrical engineers and designers and oversee their work on oil, gas and chemical projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of electrical engineers and designers and oversee their work on oil/gas/chemical projects.
- Plan, organise and direct engineering work, ensuring on‑time completion, safety‑in‑design and quality outcomes from conception to completion.
- Collaborate with project management, client and other disciplines to meet project objectives.
- May lead one or more projects while providing guidance for other lead engineers within the programme.
- Maintain relationships with project management and client to ensure satisfaction with the quality and progress of the project.
- Communicate effectively (written, emails, verbal) with the team and with management; possess strong leadership and problem‑solving skills; motivate and create a positive work environment to help the team learn, grow and work together to achieve common goals.
- Deliver electrical engineering services that meet Worley, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.
- Initiate, manage and, if required, supervise electrical engineering project requirements.
- Perform electrical engineering services such as:
- Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
- Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change‑management processes.
- Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities; for example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders.
- Act as the electrical engineering lead on specific projects, if required.
- If responsible for a team:
- Outline project requirements, actively promote workshare where appropriate, assign tasks and supervise progress.
- Ensure the required services meet Worley, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
- Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and the customer’s requirements.
- Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
- Assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team, if required.
- Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the customer.
- Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and request assistance when required.
What You Will Bring
- Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and ability to deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.
- Excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of electrical engineering and other engineering fields.
- Excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory specifications.
- Competent use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering specific software (ETAP, PSCAD, SPL).
- Experience in development and design of electrical distribution systems, equipment selection, protective relay selection and power management system configuration.
- Perform/review power system studies and protective device settings.
- Extensive technical and practical experience in electrical engineering in a similar industry, including multi‑disciplinary projects and teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent.
- 8+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience in software such as MS Office Suite and electrical engineering specific software (ETAP, PSCAD, SPL).

- This position is in California.
- Salary Range $119,484-$175,711.

Required – Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
- A recognised and relevant BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in engineering, management, project management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent.
Preferred
- Professional Engineer (P. E or P. Eng) status in the US/Canada.
