Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineering license preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in data center engineering.
• Proven track record of successfully completing data center design projects.
• Strong knowledge of data center electrical systems: Substations, Emergency Generators, UPS, Lithium‑Ion Battery Plants, Fire Alarm.
• Familiarity with EPMS and/or SCADA; ability to develop controls sequences and monitoring protocols.
• Experience with large-scale, high-density data centers and cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Professional certifications (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical engineering design tasks for new data center facilities, including build-to-suit, self-performed, and tenant fit-out projects.
• Develop electrical design solutions to increase deployment speed, scalability, and repeatability for hyperscale sites.
• Contribute innovative concepts to improve efficiency, reliability, and constructability.
• Support whitespace fit-outs with electrical layouts, load validation, and coordination with IT/operations.
• Perform site due diligence, evaluate utility availability, and assess site power constraints.
• Review striping plans to ensure balanced loads upstream.
• Review drawings to ensure Basis of Design compliance.
• Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and internal teams to ensure cohesive designs.
• Perform short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, and load flow studies.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and safety protocols.
• Participate in factory witness testing, site inspections, and commissioning.
• Contribute to budgets, schedules, and resource planning.
• Assist troubleshooting and corrective actions in electrical design.
• Foster innovation and technical excellence within the team.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Center Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of electrical infrastructure for our data center facilities. This individual will be responsible for leading technical design efforts, reviewing consultant work, and ensuring that our electrical systems meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and scalability.

Travel is required to visit various data center sites.

About The Role

• Execute electrical engineering design tasks for new data center facilities, including build-to-suit, self-performed, and tenant fit-out projects.
• Develop electrical design solutions that enhance speed of deployment, scalability, and repeatability for hyperscale data center sites.
• Contribute innovative design concepts and technical approaches to improve efficiency, reliability, and constructability.
• Support whitespace fit-outs by developing electrical layouts, validating load capacities, coordinating with IT/operations, and ensuring compliance with company standards.
• Participate in new site due diligence, including evaluation of utility availability, site power constraints, and electrical infrastructure readiness.
• Review electrical striping plans to verify that loads are properly distributed upstream, ensuring balanced operation under normal and failover conditions.
• Review design drawings, specifications, and shop drawings prepared by consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with Basis of Design and company standards.
• Coordinate closely with third-party consultants, vendors, and internal project teams (IT, operations, mechanical, and project management) to ensure complete and cohesive designs.
• Perform technical calculations and studies (short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash, load flow, etc.) to validate system performance and safety.
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, regulations, and safety protocols throughout the design and construction process.
• Participate in factory witness testing, site inspections, and commissioning activities to verify proper installation and operation of electrical systems.
• Provide technical input on budgets, schedules, and resource planning in support of project execution.
• Support troubleshooting and corrective action efforts related to electrical design and implementation.
• Contribute to a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence within the engineering team.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Professional Engineering license preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in data center engineering.
• Proven track record of successfully completing data center design projects.
• Strong knowledge of data center electrical systems, such as Substations, Emergency Generators, Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPS), Lithium-Ion Battery Plants and Fire Alarm.
• Be familiar with Emergency Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) and/or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems with the ability to develop controls sequences and monitoring protocols.
• Experience with large-scale, high-density data centers and cloud infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Professional certifications (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI, or similar) are a plus.
