Job summary

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer – Cost Reduction & Product Redesign Initiative

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to support a long-term product cost-reduction and redesign initiative focused on reducing system and board-level costs while maintaining product performance, quality, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in PCB redesign, component qualification, power systems, manufacturing support, and cross-functional engineering collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing electronic designs to identify cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Simplify or eliminate over-engineered circuitry and components.
  • Redesign PCB assemblies to reduce Bill of Materials (BOM) costs.
  • Evaluate alternative system configurations to optimize cost and functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on cost-down initiatives.
  • Research and identify lower-cost component alternatives.
  • Support dual-sourcing strategies to improve supply chain resilience.
  • Lead component evaluation, testing, and qualification efforts.
  • Partner with sourcing and procurement teams on component selection decisions.
  • Support redesign of legacy power-management architectures.
  • Improve battery and power-system designs for cost, manufacturability, and reliability.
  • Evaluate design tradeoffs and implement cost-effective solutions.
  • Assess RF and wireless connectivity solutions for cost optimization opportunities.
  • Support development of product variants with different connectivity requirements.
  • Recommend alternative technologies and architectures where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with PCB assembly and manufacturing partners throughout the redesign process.
  • Ensure manufacturability, testability, and production quality are maintained.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) activities.
  • Develop and execute validation and testing plans.
  • Manage laboratory activities related to design verification.
  • Analyze test results and implement design improvements.
  • Support product development throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership for redesign activities.
  • Assist with project planning, prioritization, and scope definition.
  • Coordinate activities across engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality teams.
  • Help maintain project schedules and milestones.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience in product development environments.
  • Experience with PCB and electronic system redesign.
  • Experience with component selection, qualification, and sourcing support.
  • Understanding of PCBA manufacturing processes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Experience developing and executing engineering test protocols.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a focus on cost optimization.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with power electronics, battery systems, or power-management architectures.
  • Familiarity with RF, wireless communication, and Wi-Fi technologies.
  • Experience leading technical projects or supporting project management activities.
  • Experience driving product cost-reduction initiatives from concept through implementation.
