Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our respected engineering team in Herndon, VA. You will lead complex electrical design efforts for industrial, commercial, and government projects, mentor junior engineers, and engage directly with clients to translate requirements into robust solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• 5+ years in design for diverse sectors.
• EIT/LEED required; PE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering design and produce construction documents for complex projects.
• Mentor and train design and project engineers, ensuring quality and best practices.
• Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and team members.
• Perform electrical calculations including load studies, voltage drops, and equipment sizing.
• Conduct field observations and document conditions and construction progress.
• Review and respond to comments from clients, authorities having jurisdiction, and other reviewers.
• Manage project budgets and schedules while overseeing work through project completion.
• Participate in design coordination meetings and handle construction administration items such as RFIs and change orders.

Senior Electrical Engineer Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
• Minimum of 5 years industry experience in design for industrial, commercial, government, academic, R&D, or multi-family projects
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and knowledge of SKM and lighting design software
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and LEED accreditation required
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred
