Job summary

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. in Henderson, NV, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design detailed electrical power systems for water and wastewater projects, pump stations, and greenfield initiatives, with minimal supervision and cross‑disciplinary collaboration.

You will lead preparation of contract drawings, specifications, and cost estimates; review submittals and RFIs, perform site visits, support startup activities, mentor junior staff, and ensure compliance with NFPA standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer status.
  • 10+ years working experience in the water industry in an electrical engineering role.
  • Experience in designing and delivering municipal projects via different delivery methods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed electrical power system designs for water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and greenfield projects.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary work with clients, PMs and design staff.
  • Write and edit electrical specifications; select equipment and devices.
  • Review submittals, RFIs and change orders; prepare record drawings.
  • Assist in startup activities and participate in site visits/inspections.
  • Lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specs and cost estimates.
  • Provide QA/QC of electrical plans, specs and estimates in the water market.
  • Design low- and medium-voltage power distribution.
  • Provide construction support including submittal reviews and change order approvals.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer on our team, you will prepare detailed electrical power systems design for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump station rehabilitation, and greenfield projects with minimum supervision. You will work with clients, project managers and design staff including electrical engineers, cost estimators, designers, drafters, and other engineering disciplines to provide quality work on schedule and within budget.

We will rely on your collaboration skills to coordinate interdisciplinary work for overall project success and encourage you to bring your fresh ideas to work every day. You will work with a knowledgeable and supportive team to prepare and manage detailed electrical power system design. In addition to preparing contract drawings during the design phase, the role will require writing and editing electrical specifications, selecting equipment, electrical systems and devices. In the construction phase, the role will require reviewing submittals, RFIs and change orders, preparing record drawings, conducting site visits/inspections, and participating in startup activities.

Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer status.
  • 10+ years working experience in the water industry in an electrical engineering role.
  • Experience in designing and delivering municipal projects via different delivery methods, including design-bid-build, design-build, and other alternatives.
  • Experience in equipment sizing, grounding, and relay coordination.
  • Perform field visits and conduct comprehensive site investigations for clients.
  • Expertly apply knowledge of commonly used electrical engineering and design concepts, principles, best practices, codes, and guidelines related to electrical engineering industry.
  • Lead in preparing contract documents for plans, specifications, and cost estimates for complex projects from planning studies to final design.
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance of electrical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market
  • Design electrical systems including low- and medium-voltage power distribution.
  • Provide services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s requests for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings.
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E and NFPA 820.
  • Motivation and initiative, attention to detail, work productively without supervision, and ability to multitask with multi-disciplinary teams on different project teams.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to mentor junior staff.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
  • Field investigation, construction site inspection and startup experience, including electrical system testing and commissioning experience.
  • Hands‑on knowledge and design proficiency in electrical standards, codes, and vendor equipment options
  • Knowledge of Bluebeam Revu, SKM PTW, ETAP and EasyPower.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and interact with clients.

The base salary range for this position is $123,600.00 to $193,200.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
