Wanna join the adventure?
Loft Orbital is redefining how satellites are built and deployed, and our electrical engineering team is at the heart of that mission. We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer who lives and breathes hardware design, someone who wants to sit down and knock out a board, dig into bus protocols, and help shape the next generation of space vehicle subsystems. If you want your fingerprints on real flight hardware — not just theory — this is your seat at the table.
About this role:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you’ll be a core hardware design resource on a team that’s ramping up multiple new board design efforts. You’ll:
- Own detailed board design work, including new digital and analog designs supporting upcoming missions (including active work on new power supply designs, such as for the TASA mission).
- Be a technical face for electrical requirements, working cross‑functionally with mechanical, systems, and program teams to deliver hardware that meets mission needs.
- Work across different bus protocols and get familiar with the electrical architecture of multiple space vehicle subsystems.
- Flex into electrical systems support when needed – helping with harness schematics, ICDs, or system‑level electrical questions alongside your board design work.
- Collaborate closely with our existing hardware and electrical systems engineers to help cover a growing pipeline of new board designs kicked off across the team.
This is a hands‑on, high‑ownership role for someone who wants to do hardware design full‑time, but is also comfortable wearing an electrical systems hat when the mission calls for it.
Must Haves:
- Strong, demonstrated experience in board design – you’re comfortable owning a design from concept through delivery.
- Familiarity with different bus protocols used in space or embedded hardware systems.
- Working knowledge of space vehicle subsystems and how electrical hardware integrates into them.
- Comfortable acting as a technical point of contact for electrical requirements across teams.
- Ability and willingness to flex into electrical systems tasks (harness schematics, ICD review) as needed.
- Senior‑level experience in electrical engineering, ideally with some FPGA exposure.
Nice to Haves:
- Software/scripting capability – comfortable running scripts, debugging code, or managing an outside supplier delivering hardware with embedded software.
- Familiarity with CD&H (command and data handling) systems.
- Experience managing external suppliers or vendors delivering hardware/software components.
Some of Our Awesome Benefits:
- 100% company‑paid medical, dental, and vision insurance option for employees and dependents
- Flexible Spending (FSA) and Health Savings (HSA) Accounts offered with an employer contribution to the HSA
- 100% employer‑paid Life, AD&D, Short‑Term, and Long‑Term Disability insurance
- Flexible Time Off policy for vacation and sick leave, and 12 paid holidays
- 401(k) plan and equity options
- Daily catered lunches and snacks in office
- International exposure to our team in France
- Fully paid parental leave; 14 weeks for birthing parent and 10 weeks for non‑birthing parent
- Carrot Fertility provides comprehensive, inclusive fertility healthcare and family‑forming benefits with financial support
- Off‑sites and many social events and celebrations
- Relocation assistance when applicable
$150,000 - $200,000 a year
