Job summary

Sigma Design Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and certify panels for cockpit avionics. You will own projects, mentor peers, and drive complex hardware development across the product lifecycle in an in-office setting.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in aerospace hardware, strong digital/analog circuit skills, and experience with DO-254/DO-160, CAN/ARINC, and EMI mitigation. Competitive compensation and full benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or higher degrees.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical hardware for aerospace/defense.
  • Experience with regulated development processes and aerospace standards is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead development of complex, high-reliability electronic hardware.
  • Translate requirements into architecture and detailed specs.
  • Document design performance and acceptance criteria in design reviews.
  • Mentor engineers and foster innovation.
  • Engage in special projects advancing airborne electronics.
  • Troubleshoot and verify designs through testing and reviews.

Senior Electrical Engineer (Direct Placement for Client)

Primary Function: Looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and certify panels used in the cockpit of commercial and military aircraft. The right candidate will want to do more with their skills, be challenged to resolve complex technical problems, contribute across the full product lifecycle, and grow leadership skills by providing mentorship to their peers.

This role will have the opportunity to take ownership of projects and make a significant impact, and it’s best fit for an individual looking to build their career at a company that invests in the people, products, and possibilities.

Position Details:
  • In-Office
  • Monday – Friday, Day shift (Flexible), full time

Salary range:

  • Level III: $120,000-$180,000
  • Level IV: $138,000-$207,000

Final offers are based on job-related qualifications and pay equity.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead the development of complex, high-reliability electronic hardware for aerospace and defense applications.
  • Translate high-level requirements into architectural concepts and associated low-level requirements.
  • Document and present your design performance, and acceptance criteria in design reviews.
  • Become a trusted technical expert, solving complex hardware problems through root cause analysis and impact assessment.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to a team of skilled engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Engage in special projects that push the boundaries of airborne electronics.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting and design verification of products.
Preferred Education & Experience:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or M.S. in Engineering fields or Science.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Experience with aerospace or other industries with highly regulated development processes.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong foundation in digital and analog circuit design, analysis, power conversion, and PCB layout.
  • Familiarity with CAN, ARINC, and other common communication protocols; ability to program and debug hardware/software interfaces.
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards (DO-160, DO-254, MIL-STD-704/461) is a strong plus.
  • An innate ability to troubleshoot and solve complex electrical problems with a creative and analytical mindset.
  • Proficiency in electronic design and schematic tools (ePADS, Xpedition, PSpice) and a deep understanding of circuit design and analysis.
  • A solid understanding of EMI mitigation design concepts.
  • Jira & Agile project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management tool.
  • Strong communication skill and collaborative mindset.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent use of personal computers, database and digital platforms, and other office productivity machinery, such as copy machines and computer printers.
  • Frequently uses hands, fingers, and arms to reach, handle, touch or feel equipment, materials, and computer.
  • The person in this position needs to frequently move inside the office.
  • Frequent close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
