Job summary

PENTA Engineering Corp seeks an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with 10+ years in industrial plant power, controls, and automation. The role requires strong leadership, client coordination, and staff mentoring across US projects.

Responsibilities include design of electrical systems, protection schemes, and project deliverables, with travel within the US and occasionally overseas. P.E. registration is required, and MS in EE or BS with applicable experience is considered.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with latest U.S. electrical codes and safety requirements (NEC/IEEE).
  • Experience with electrical power distribution, grounding, and low/medium voltage systems in heavy process industries.
  • Power transmission, protection systems, and full electrical product cycles.
  • Experience configuring protection relays (e.g., GE Multilink) for medium voltage.
  • Maintenance of electrical systems and safety guidelines in industrial settings.
  • Ability to design industrial control and automation systems.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and staff evaluation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design for industrial power and control systems.
  • Coordinate engineering work with staff, clients, and contractors.
  • Prepare equipment specs, cable lists, and I/O lists.
  • Develop one-line diagrams, load lists, and schematic drawings.
  • Oversee project deliverables and CAPEX for electrical/controls.
  • Support commissioning at construction sites.
  • Mentor staff and drive department planning.

Job description

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Seeking an experienced Professional Engineer to be Senior Electrical Engineer at PENTA. He/she will have a minimum of 10+ years of positions with increasing responsibility. We require:

  • Expertise in industrial plant power, controls, and automation systems.
  • Technical excellence and in-depth understanding of good engineering practices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to coordinate work with staff, clients, and contractors.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage time and resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and need for high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent people management and motivational skills. Must coach, mentor, and train staff; perform staff evaluations and provide recommendations semi-yearly.
  • Full commitment to maintaining the company's professional image and reputation with accurate and error-free work.
  • Require travel within the US and occasionally overseas to clients and facilities.
Required Skills and Primarily Responsible for:
  • Familiarity with latest U.S electrical codes and safety requirements, including NEC code and IEEE standards.
  • Electric power distribution & grounding, design, and operation of low and medium Voltage Systems in heavy process industries.
  • Power transmission, full electrical product cycle, power control and protection systems.
  • Setup of GE Multilink Protective Relays or equivalent for medium voltage (5kV) feeder, transformer, and motor protection.
  • Maintenance of Electrical systems.
  • Safety guidelines related to industrial plant power distribution.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, SKM Power Tools.
  • Proficient in the design of industrial control and automation systems
  • Electrical power distribution, MCC, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Power and control schematics development.
  • Hardware specification and control panel design.
  • Electronic device configuration, PLC program development, HMI configuration
  • Preparation of equipment specifications, cable list, I/O List.
  • Development of functional description, load list, one-line diagram, device location, grounding, and lighting plans.
  • Preparation of Electrical Design Criteria for all projects; attend all kickoff meetings; assist in proposal preparation and CAPEX for electrical/controls.
  • Maintain and update database/deliverables from earlier projects and add to as needed.
  • Near and long-term Department planning.
  • Establish Goals and Programs for each Department Personnel.
  • Maintaining Electrical Department Knowledge Database.
  • Travel to Construction Sites to Assist with Systems' Commissioning.
Education and License Required
  • M.S in Electrical Engineering preferred or B.S. with relevant applicable experience will be considered.
  • P.E. registration required. Must be able to obtain registrations across USA.
