You will lead design computations, CAD drawings, and equipment selections, collaborating with Project Designers/Engineers to ensure code compliance and adherence to company standards on complex assignments.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering/design experience in building design (lighting, fire alarm, power distribution, etc.).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college.
• Expertise in engineering design software and CAD (AutoCAD/Revit).
• General knowledge of electrical systems design and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Prepares design computations and cost estimates for smaller projects within the unit.
• Uses engineering CAD software to prepare design documents (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
• Modifies reports, specifications, schedules, and drawings for projects.
• Performs electrical calculations (lighting, power distribution, sizing).
• Creates electrical riser diagrams and equipment schedules.
• Provides drawings for own designs and supports drafters with sketches.
• Researches design options and informs Project Designer/Engineer.

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our growing design team that is based in Albany, NY. ********We will also entertain qualified candidates that are NOT local and can work full-time remote.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepares design computations and quantity estimates and develops probable construction cost estimates for the smaller, less complex projects within the business unit (medium voltage power distribution, low voltage systems, fire alarm systems, backup power generation, electrical power distribution, life safety systems, etc.).
• Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.).
• Modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.
• Makes calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design such as lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, equipment sizing, etc.
• Creates specialized drawings such as electrical riser diagrams.
• Selects equipment based on recommendations of the Project Designer/Engineer and fills out equipment schedules.
• Provides drawings for own designs and produces sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters.
• Researches design options and documents findings for Project Designer/Engineer.
• Keeps Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
• Provides information to the Project Manager for incorporation into specifications.
• Researches code issues and asks general questions of code officials.
• Maintains a neat and organized work area which allows efficient access to information required by other team members.
• Assures that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 10+ years of previous engineering/design experience in the building design industry (for example: lighting systems, fire alarm systems, branch circuitry, etc.).
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year College or University.
• Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD/Revit).
• General knowledge of Electrical system design and applicable codes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Registered professional engineer (PE).

Travel duration, if any, is based on project complexity and location. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.

The salary offered for this role is between $146,650 and $183,300, but the actual salary offered is dependent on experience, skill set, and education.
