Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Building Engineering Services team in Austin, TX. You will contribute to power, lighting, and electrical system design across commercial/retail projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, and sustainability teams.

The role involves designing, developing, and coordinating electrical systems, ensuring code compliance, and presenting proposals to clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• PE license in the posting state.
• 6–10 years electrical (architectural) design experience in commercial/retail.
• Proficient in AGI Lighting Software and REVIT; CAD experience.
• Willing to travel to client locations as needed.
• Mentor new designers or interns; work with teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the architectural application of electrical engineering, including power systems, lighting design, generator design, campus electrical infrastructure.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures in line with building codes.
• Participate in design development and create electrical specification packages.
• Develop project proposals and present to clients; attend meetings.
• Ensure designs comply with local codes and document accordingly.
• Perform field inspections and calculations; research materials as needed.

Colliers Engineering & Design, is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Austin, TX!Our engineers work alongside architects, structural professionals, and sustainability specialists within one integrated team, allowing decisions to be evaluated early and thoroughly.

From load analysis to development of complex electrical systems and an emphasis on green building design, Colliers Engineering & Design provides a full range of electrical engineering services that will improve functionality and performance in your building. Our electrical engineers are experienced in a wide range of projects, including power generation & distribution, lighting systems, fire alarms, security and access control systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the architectural application of electrical engineering, including power systems, lighting design, generator design, campus electrical infrastructure, etc.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures, using knowledge of building codes and regulations to create/modify designs and drawings.
• Participate in design development.
• Creation of electrical specification packages.
• Development of project proposals and client presentations and attendance at client meetings.
• Verify that all design aspects comply with local code and apply code provisions.
• Assist in the development of project proposals and client presentations and attend client meetings.
• Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations and document.
• Assist in research related to material qualities, feasibility, restrictions, etc.
• Suggest new ideas and processes, stay informed of developments in practice areas, and view obstacles as opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6-10 years electrical (architectural) design experience, specifically with commercial/retail project design.
• Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) in the respective job posting state.
• Proficient in AGI Lighting Software and REVIT preferred.
• A passion for power and lighting design, power system studies and low and medium Voltage design.
• Experience working in CAD.
• Willing to travel to client location(s), as needed.
• Ability to research code provisions, products, material information, etc.
• Ability to coordinate information exchange between clients, project manager, and project team.
• Willingness to mentor new designers and/or interns.
• Able to be a team player and work independently.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
