TYLin is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with traction power expertise to support planning, design, and delivery of complex infrastructure in the Mid-Atlantic.

You will provide technical leadership across a diverse project portfolio, mentor engineers, and engage with clients and stakeholders to advance TYLin’s transportation practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• PE license preferred (DC/MD/VA) or reciprocity possible.
• 10+ years designing electrical systems for transportation/large infrastructure.
• Experience with power system modeling software: ETAP, SKM, EasyPower.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of transportation electrical systems across multiple market sectors.
• Design and oversee electrical infrastructure including traction power and substations.
• Perform power system analyses and develop specs, calculations, and construction documents.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, roadway, rail, and utility disciplines.
• Interface with utility providers and project stakeholders.
• Support construction through RFIs, submittal reviews, field inspections, and issue resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical growth.

Job Summary

TYLin is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in traction power and transportation electrical systems to support the planning, design, and delivery of complex infrastructure projects across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Our Transportation practice delivers innovative solutions for highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, passenger rail, freight rail, and public transit systems. We are looking for an experienced electrical engineer who can provide technical leadership across a diverse portfolio of projects while helping clients modernize and expand critical transportation infrastructure.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a senior electrical engineer with experience designing complex power distribution and transportation electrical systems, including traction power, substations, utility coordination, and electrification infrastructure.

You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams supporting projects from planning and preliminary engineering through final design and construction, ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, client requirements, and regulatory codes.

What You’ll Do

Technical Leadership & Design

• Lead the design and delivery of transportation electrical systems for infrastructure projects across multiple market sectors.

• Design and oversee electrical infrastructure including:

• Perform or oversee power system analyses including:

• Develop technical specifications, calculations, reports, and construction documents.

• Conduct design reviews and maintain quality assurance and quality control standards.

Project Delivery

• Serve as Engineer of Record, where applicable.

• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, roadway, bridge, rail, systems, and utility disciplines.

• Interface with utility providers, public agencies, and project stakeholders.

• Support construction through RFIs, submittal reviews, field inspections, and technical issue resolution.

Client Development & Leadership

• Support technical proposals and project pursuits across TYLin’s Transportation practice.

• Participate in client meetings and presentations.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the electrical engineering team.

• Help strengthen TYLin’s transportation infrastructure practice throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).

• Professional Engineer (PE) license (DC, MD, or VA preferred, or ability to obtain reciprocity).

• 10+ years of progressive experience designing electrical systems for transportation or other large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Experience with one or more of the following:

• Strong knowledge of:

• Experience using ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar power system modeling software is preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
