Job summary

Ghafari Associates, LLC in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and engineer lighting, power and low voltage systems for new construction or renovation projects.

You will develop construction documents, lead project teams, and ensure NEC/NFPA compliance while collaborating with multiple disciplines to deliver coordinated designs on time and within budget. The role requires 10+ years of experience and a strong background in power distribution and lighting design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
• LEED credential is preferred.
• 10+ years in power distribution/lighting design.
• Experience with short-circuit analysis and arc flash software.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer lighting, power and low voltage systems for new construction or renovation.
• Develop construction documents for installation, interconnection, and control of components.
• Lead project teams and manage scope, budget, and design approach.
• Ensure NEC and NFPA standards compliance in designs.
• Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages.
• Coordinate with disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.
• Edit and draft project specifications and mentor staff.
• Review submittals and respond to RFIs.
