Job summary

Jobot is seeking a permanent Electrical Designer/Drafter in New York to design and draft electrical systems for industrial and commercial buildings. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and security solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of electrical design and drafting experience in construction.
• Proficiency with CAD software for electrical design and drafting.
• Deep NEC knowledge and familiarity with industry standards.
• Experience designing electrical systems for high performance buildings.
• Familiarity with plumbing and mechanical systems related to electrical design.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills for complex calculations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and draft electrical systems for industrial and commercial buildings (lighting, power, fire alarm, security).
• Perform load balancing, voltage drop, and sub-bank calculations.
• Specify conduits, wiring, and components per NEC.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to integrate systems.
• Review and revise designs for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with contractors and suppliers for correct installation.
• Provide technical support during construction and post-occupancy.
• Keep knowledge up-to-date on new technologies and trends.
