Job summary

EXP is seeking aSenior Electrical Designer/Engineer in Raleigh, NC to lead the electrical design for Hospitality, Entertainment and Healthcare projects. You will mentor staff, coordinate with project managers, and ensure design quality and code compliance.

Preference for a PE license, but not required. Local travel is expected as projects require. Join EXP to contribute to a diverse, growing team and deliver innovative solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in related design of Hospitality, Entertainment, Healthcare, Life Sciences and building projects.
• Engineering Degree (BS Architectural Engineering, or BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent degree)
• Revit MEP proficient
• PE License preferred but not required
• Ability to travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor design level staff in technical and non-technical skills.
• QC own work and that of others on drawings, RFIs and submittals.
• Collaborate with project manager to meet project budget and deliverables.
• Execute deliverables to meet schedule and budget.
• Represent EXP in meetings/site visits and document results.
• Solve complex problems within time and budget.
• Develop and monitor electrical work plans to meet schedule and budget.
• Educate clients on code requirements during meetings and design charrettes.
• Prepare studies and reports for electrical systems and present findings.
• Develop tools or standards to improve efficiency/quality of EXP work.
• Be expert in electrical requirements for at least one market sector.
• Evaluate Value Engineering items with respect to EXP risk.
• Lead Basis of Design narratives into DD/CD drawings.
• Demonstrate knowledge of lighting, power, and fire alarm systems.
• Perform field verification and take-offs for renovations.
• Lead contractor meetings during bid phase to review design details.
• Evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimates.
• Maintain 'responsible charge' level for EXP design/quality.
• Demonstrate presentation skills in internal/external settings.
• Lead voluntary training opportunities like vendor lunch & learns.
• Contribute positively to EXP and local office culture.

In this role, you will be a part of theElectrical team,for Hospitality, Entertainment and Healthcare projectsin the Raleigh, North Carolinaoffices.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Effectively lead and mentor design level staff in both technical and non-technical skills.
• Effectively QC own work and work of other staff (IE: drawings, RFI answers, submittal reviews).
• Demonstrate ability to collaborate with project manager in determining deliverables to meet project budget.
• Effectively execute deliverables to meet project budget.
• Independently represent EXP in project meetings / site visits; properly document results as required.
• Successfully solve complex problems within time & budget.
• Develop, monitor, and successfully execute electrical work plans to meet schedule and budget.
• Demonstrate ability to educate clients on code requirements during meetings, design charettes, etc.
• Independently prepare studies and reports for electrical systems and present findings to client.
• Developing tools or standards to improve efficiency and/or quality of EXP work product.
• Expert in specific electrical requirements for applications within a minimum of one market sector.
• Evaluate Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to EXP’s level of risk.
• Lead the implementation of Basis of Design narratives into DD and CD drawings.
• Demonstrate high level of knowledge of lighting, normal and emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
• Perform field verification and take‑offs of existing systems for renovation projects independently.
• Lead meetings with contractors during bid phase to review the design details.
• Evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimates.
• Perform at a ‘responsible charge’ level of meeting EXP’s design and quality levels.
• Demonstrate presentation skills through internal and external technical presentations.
• Lead participation in voluntary training opportunities such as vendor lunch and learns. (IE: engage and ask questions).
• Positively contribute to EXP and local office culture.
