Job summary

Hargrove Engineers + Constructors in Tennessee is seeking an Electrical Designer to perform complete electrical/instrumentation design for industrial facilities, under general supervision.

You will produce installation details, motor control center single lines, lighting, grounding, and control diagrams, with on-site startup support. Two plus years of drafting and knowledge of NEC and CAD tools are required; relocation assistance may be considered for local candidacies.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or CAD drafting.
  • 2+ years of industrial electrical/instrumentation drafting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and electrical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Produce installation details, MCC single lines, and wiring diagrams.
  • Assist in sizing wires, conduits, and protection for lighting and power.
  • Provide on-site startup support and document design changes.

Calling New Johnsonville, TN!!!We're looking for you, Electrical Designers!What You'll Be DoingJob Scope: Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of electrical/instrumentation assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex electrical/instrumentation assignments. This work will be performed under general supervision at an industrial facility in New Johnsonville, TN. For reference, the New Johnsonville, TN area is located nearby:Waverly, TN (13 miles)Paris, TN (33 miles)Jackson, TN (69 miles)Franklin, TN (72 miles)Columbia, TN (79 miles)Nashville, TN (88 miles)Memphis, TN (151 miles)Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards.Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team.Producing installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power and instrumentation plans under minimal supervision.Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.Providing on-site assistance during startup.Ideal BackgroundEducation: Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.Certification: Certification is not required at this level.Experience: This position requires 2+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and designRequired Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesFamiliarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC).Ability to perform lighting level calculations.Ability to size wire, conduit and overcurrent protection for both lighting and power applications.Ability to perform voltage drop calculations.Ability to route conduit and cable tray.Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill.Ability to determine motor control center loading.Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment.Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from the information found on vendor equipment drawings.Ability to determine load center unit substation loading.Knowledge and understanding of work flow/information flow between disciplines.Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of all electrical deliverables.Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks.Knowledge and application of company engineering design and CAD drafting standards.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.Proficient in the use of 2D AutoCAD and Microstation. 3D AutoCAD desirable.Good communication skills, both verbal and written.Virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships continue to develop, and providing interoffice execution support under general supervision.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.RateRate depends on years and level of experience.Looking for local candidates but may offer some relocation assistance.
